Just a quick question. My mother has Sky. She has a very old dish that has recently begun playing up badly. I cant get an exact figure for getting it fixed but I know upgrading to SkyHD can be done for £75.

The only problem is that she has an 12year old Sony TV with no HDMI connection. She is an old-school lady only changing something when it is well and truly broken. The TV is just about on its last legs so hopefully I can get her something new in the next 6 months. Can she use the Scart connection on the SkyHD in the meantime?

yes you can use the scart to connect up the sky until you get an hd tv. dont forget that sky will be charging you the extra £10 for the hd subcription every month though, which seems a waste to me. personally if it was me i think i'd get the dish sorted and stick with standard sky until i got a new set

V. True. 6 months of HD is £60, add that to the £75, and you have £135 - it shouldn't cost that much to get a local guy around to replace the dish and LNB... and then you aren't tied into the other 6 months of HD either...
