Hope I am on the correct forum.

I have a Sky HD box which allows me to record any TV programme - perfect picture quality doing this. However some films recorded I want to keep - ie burn to a blank DVD. Therefore I connected a Scart from the SKY HD box to the DVD recorder which means I can the burn onto a DVD.

However viewing the recorded programme when it is transfered to the DVD recorder appears to have a shadow running continually across it. - Is this some kind of encription so you cannot do this or is it another problem. If so how do I work round this as I like to keep films.

Thanks

Hi Graham, I archive tv series and some movies from Sky HD to my Panasonic DMREX85 which has a hard drive. I copy to the hard drive and remove the adverts before burning a DVD. The biggest limiting factor is the scart but I don't have the problem you describe. Have you tried the copy command in the HD box? Or try reconnecting the scart cables?

Best Wishes

Thanks Chris,

I do exactly as you say including removing adverts. I am not to sure what you mean by the copy command in the HD box and what does that do? So you seem to have no problem with the picture when you transfer it to the DVD recorder hard drive? Do you think it may be the scart I have used?

Hi Graham,

I have been away for a few days. If you look at a programme in your planner that you have recorded then choose options you will see copy in red. I think it will allow you to copy to the scart socket. Have you tried a different scart lead in case thats the problem? What recorder are you using and does it have freeview built in?

Best wishes

Hi Chris

Thanks again. I have a Panasonic EX768EB DVD recorder - 9 months old - not sure if it has freeview built in - I do not use aerial input to it as I use my aerial for my tuner - basically DVD recorder is to copy films from SKY HD box and burn onto DVD or watch a bought or hired DVD. Been busy - did try checking scart connections - seemed Ok will buy another - will try your suggestions and get back to you

Hi Graham,

If the panasonic could record from freeview without any problems experienced with sky you would know there is nothing wrong with the panasonic. But if you had the same problem as with sky then you would know the panasonic was wrong. I have my sky HD plugged directly into my Sony 40w2000 and the optical cable is plugged into my Onkyo 905 so I can DD 5.1. Do you have a similar set up? Good luck with the cables.

Best wishes

Chris
