Sky+ To Onkyo 605

Happy new year everyone... I have an Onkyo 605 with tannoy sfx 5.1 working fine, I have got my sky+ connected to the amp with phono cambridge audio interconnects, is this ok or shall I go down the optical cable route? if so which one? and what benifits will it giv e me over the interconnect...???

I'd go optical - on those channels where it's available, such as movies, you'll get Dolby Digital 5.1 sound when it's broadcast. And I think it's fair to say that the DACs in the Onkyo are likely to be better than those in the Sky+ box.

I've just bought a Chord Optichord Toslink Digital. It seems to do the job fine, although I haven't found anything that is broadcasting dolby digital yet? I can't even select dolby digital on the Amp (I've got the 875), onlt the Dolby Pro-LogicII Ex, which I'm not so sure about as I only have 5.1 speakers not 7.1? If you mangage to get yours working with dolby digital, let me know will you!

BTW Toslink was £38 from Hifix
