They provide packaging in which to return the equipment. If you don't do so they charge you for it.

I got rid of Sky a couple of months ago and I now have only broadband from them. I'm saving a fortune. All that's needed these days is a smart TV or stick.

They were a good cheap/free source off HDDs at one point.

Not sure I would trust their reliability now though, being a minimum of 7 years old and having lived a hard life Writing long, continuous streams of data.

I’ve got several previous generation Sky boxes festering in the loft…never had to return one yet.

Because they were yours to keep.

That all changed with Q, they remain Sky's property and are "loaned" to subscribers.

As I previously mentioned, there's no point keeping them anyway, as they're useless without a subscription, unlike older generation boxes that could continue to be used to receive FTA channels

after looking at things we went back to Sky Q did not like the alternatives offered . Sky Glass was terrible and that dishless system needs a lot of updates to compare with Virgin . Sorry Guys at Sky give it another 3 years , you might just catch up . Dishes have there problems , the dish is small and most people put them up too high , so not able to get to them easily. mine is just 4 ft above ground

when people sign up for Sky services you have to have it the minimum time limit shich i think it is 2years ie 24 months I have had Sky services now for many years and pleased and have also Sky Q and super fibre too.. FREESAT is a good option but there is no internet . FRREVIEW is not an option as i do not have or want a ugly aerial especially here where they have to be 56 element jobs or more ( poor reception) My dish is at ground level with the fence here. Which in my view where they all should be now , unless you live in a flat .
