Hi,

SKY HD will upscale pictures depending on output settings you set within the HD box.

It's safe to pass through AV receivers. Your receiver may also be able to upscale the image to the TV.

Cheers,

If I decided to upgrade from a Sky+ box to Sky+HD but not pay the £10 extra, would the box still function in the same way, i.e. upscale pictures on the SD channels? I understand I won't get the HD channels but having normal Sky upscaled would be a start.

Thanks,

And indeed many receivers (or your set) may upscale better than the Sky HD box itself - setting it to 'Auto' and taking the upscaling out of its hands can often bring a better picture...

And Livers - yes, it'll upscale, but as shown above, so will your TV and/or receiver: the move from a Scart to HDMI connection, however, makes a big difference to SD Sky channels, and is a major advantage of Sky HD over Sky+

Thanks Clare, it was the HDMI connection that made me think about upgrading.
