SKy HD Optical Problems??

Does Anyone have a sky HD box optical input to an AV receiver? I have a problem - I hear things in Dolby surround but sometimes if I change channel the sound outputs to all 5 speakers in a kind of 5 channel stereo but with a slight delay from left to right which sounds awful. THis does not happen with any any other souce blue ray etc.. so assume it is an issue with Sky HD /??

What amp is it? What audio format is displayed/mode are you using on the amp?

Well, Third Cousin Phil, it's not unknown for the Sky platform to punt the odd programme out with the channels out of phase, though whether this is down to broadcast or source material isn't clear.

As you can imagine, this plays merry uncle harry - he sends his regards, BTW - with the way Pro-Logic II and other decoders handle the sound, as they depend on phase differences to extract/create surround effects.

I've found the best bet is to stick to PLIIx Music for all stereo broadcasts, with the centre width set to slightly wider than its minimum setting, and panorama and dimension settings kept low.
