Im not aware that a Sky+ HD box has a coax socket on the back? As far as my box, there is only optical on the back.

Anyway, the Dolby Digital signal is only passed through the optical socket as far i know, thats probably why you are not getting a digital signal on your amp.

Some Sky boxes have both optical and electrical digital audio outputs. And it could just be that the OP is watching a programme without a DD soundtrack.

That could be very true Andrew, there are programs on Sky that do not output Dolby, i have encountered this also.

You probably need to assign the electrical digital input to which the Sky HD box is connected to the amp input through which the Sky+HD HDMI video runs.

You do this in menu section 5.1, headed 'Input Assign (Digital)'. See manual p33 or thereabouts.
