Sky Dolby Digital - switching between Optical and HDMI audio input on Sony BDV-E870 Home Cinema

I have a Sony BDV-E870 and KDL-46NX703 plus new SKY HD receiver.

To receive Dolby Digital I have an optical connection. I have disabled the HDMI ARC feature and now get Dolby Digital displayed.

However, there appears to be no way for the Sony BDV box to switch between the Optical input and the TV HDMI audio input for TV only input.

Sony says that switching is not supported.

Any thoughts?

How about connecting the Sky box direct to the TV and the optical cable to the BDV-E870 for sound? As switching isn't supported, I think that's your only solution.
