should i use a pre amp or just go straight from my cd player as it does has a volume control on it ?

should i use just the cd player and the power amp as the cd player does have a volume control on it and of course then i only have to use 1 pair of leads and can sell the pre am or sould i keep the pre amp and iuse it as cd pre power speakers ?

All you can do is try it, it's personal taste. Many people have gone that route before, it suits some, not others. Technically you're bypassing a whole piece of hi-fi, so it should improve things.

I don't think the volume controls on the Marantz players are actually adequate enough - from memory they don't have very much range or gradation so it may prove impractical.
