Shop now or wait for Back Friday?

I think, from my own experience, Black Fridays are a waste of time and money. If you are able to manage your own expectation, it's an opportunity to spend cheaply on junk you wouldn't think twice buying.
The real clearances are those leading up to the Black Friday, especially TVs particularly 2024 models the vendors are looking to offload. Those clearances won't be around on BF day, not unless you're lucky.
Any way done my bit for the economy, just purchased my

LG C4 65" OLED evo 4K Smart TV

delivery is Wednesday, whoopee.
Have any of you got something that's worth buying on BF or is this just all hyped up to waste your money?

That's nice Jason, good luck to you.
A brother and a nephew have got LG OLEDs and I've been impressed.
Say goodbye to the grey blacks of LCD 👍

As for Black Friday....good only for those that might see a drop on something they were otherwise buying.
I'll give someone a chance to knock £20 off the Ultra, really can't see that happening, but it would be stupid not to delay purchase, with less than 3 weeks to wait.

Thanks Gray.
I was browsing at Currys last week. The sales staff told me they're using the same LG panels for the Sony Bravia, honestly couldn't see the difference in quality, except I would pay more for the Sony.
Anyway got mine from AO, slightly better price.
You've been eyeing the Ultra for quite a while, hopefully you find the best deal. 😊👍

I hope you got it cheaper than at LG currently?

In Amazon’s “mini” BF period in October I got Apple’s Air Pod Pro 2 at £179 (usual £229). Happy to take a punt then. If they’re less in official BF I won’t lose any sleep. Got our LG OLED in January on a similar promotion from JL, with 5yr warranty. These days it’s rare I’d pay full retail for anything major, there’s so many “deal days”. I’ll have a look at the official Amazon deals but I’ll only buy what I want, if anything at all.

Perfect, you must have got the LG G series that has free 5 year warranty. The G series has special MLA layer this gives it that extra OLED brightness, especially suited for rooms with lots of sunlight. Nice (y)

It was actually the C3, in 55. Their C range is a good balance for us across quality and price, and the 55 is the biggest we can cater for. At the time the C4 hadn’t come out. Just over a grand.

The C4 is seen as an improvement but the 3 is better PQ and style wise over the Samsung we had before, so I’m happy. I don’t rate webOS tho🤷🏼

Buying at the year end, or when a new version has just come out, makes sense to me 👍

You can pay Klarna at LG 3 easy instatelments spread over 3 months.
I bought a Pixel phone direct from Google a couple of yrs ago, on interest free. Turned out to be financed from Klarna. The whole experience of being bombarded w emails exhorting me to buy more through it, buy 6 send 5 back etc, made me feel very uncomfortable. Young kids thing. Didn’t like it at all and paid it off pronto.

I know, I have more purchases to make, a new patio door to replace, wedding anniversary aaaaggghh it never ends :ROFLMAO: and especially Xmas coming up, it made more sense to spread it out a little thinner.
Thats fine just didn’t want you to pay more than you had to. It’s a shame because the 77-inch C4 is now £1999 and you get £300 trade at LG on top if you trade in an old TV:

Making it £1699! Pretty sure you get 5 per cent discount by signing up on the LG website and there is at least another 2 per cent off by just being a member which is free. So another 7 per cent off on top of £1699!

Yes, you do get another 7 per cent on top:

That makes it £1581 for the 77-inch and 3 easy payments!

That's a bummer.
I think the new size standard is 65" anything less is small. Five years ago or maybe longer when I got 50" Panasonic, I thought wow that was massive, don't have to keep up with the Jone's now!

Crazy how nuts it's become, everyone getting bigger and bigger TVs. The Jone's across the road were telling me, hey Jason you're slacking.....
And Yeah I always wanted an OLED.

I had seriously thought about a 77" or even 85", and I did ran it over with the boss (wife) and that was a No :ROFLMAO:.

I suppose I will hear the Jones again in five years time.....Hey Jason you're slacking! :)

It's a great deal. I'd probably would have been swayed if I'd seen it. :)
OLED prices are almost in parity with non-OLED TVs, good for the consumer.

Hopefully for anyone looking for prices to come down further on BF, they'll find a great deal. Perhaps we'll see C4 prices reduced even further. This is where I touch my knees and ask the missus to kick me hard for not waiting a little bit longer. :ROFLMAO:

Hey-ho, it is what it is, there's always a better deal somewhere, still, C4 is an incredible hardware.
SDR material doesn't look bad on the stretched screen, the upscale software doing a great job. 4K material on Netflix and 4K UHD Blu-ray movies are sublime. Wow, more natural colours with OLED and C4's brightness level is on par with QLEDs.

I'd imagine 2025 sales next year, better deal to be had for C4 but premium price for the new C5. It's a vicious circle :)
