Hi All

Just after a little advice, apologies if it's a little basic, although even a well known manufacturer was unsure...

I have a HD TV with 3 HDMI inputs (although for purely aesthetic reasons I don't want to use the side one) and a PS3. I'm planning on getting a Sky HD and the new Sony DAV-DZ860. Now 3 into 2 doesn't go, and I was wondering if a digital receiver would help/work purely for the extra inputs. There may also be something on the technological horizon I don't know about which may also need to be connected...

Any guidence would be much appreciated

Thanks

Well, an AV amp with 3 or more HDMI inputs would solve your problem, but you'd probably need to up your budget from the Sony DAV-DZ860 to get one plus some speakers to go with it.

The other option is an HDMI switching unit which range in price from something like this or this, to this or even this!

Can't tell you if the more expensive ones are worth the upgrade I'm afraid as never used one.

I use a Joytech HDMI Tri-link switcher for this very purpose. It's quite good and can be controlled by remote but has a few foibles.

I have it connected to a PS3, Xbox 360 & an Apple TV, however if I turn on the Xbox before switching the TV (and the Tri-link) to the correct input I do not get any sound and have to switch the Xbox off and on again.

On the whole though I'm quite happy with the item but you need to factor the cost of another HDMI cable in to the purchase price.

Thanks all for your replies.

Professorhat, I'd like to keep with the DAV-DZ860 for the wireless element, so I guess I'd be using both in conjunction running the DAV-DZ860 through the receiver if this is possible/will work?

Thanks again
