Sony KDL 40W4500, new Humax Freesat HD Recorder, nonsubscribing SkyBox (free channels only). I have two free cables from satellite at my disposal.

I am a newbie and would welcome your input. Which reasonably priced cables- SCART, HDMI to use?

I may perhaps purchase a basic small sound system by next Xmas, and would also like to connect my PC/Laptop if allowed (chances are slim though).

Connect the Freesat recorder to the TV with HDMI, likewise for the PC. The Freesat will require two connections to the dish, and your Sky box is probably now redundant as all the free channels are on Freesat.
