Searching for a cable...

Hi,

I recently picked up some low-end multimedia speakers for use with my laptop. They were selling cheap, with the warning that they might not come with all the cabling, packaging etc that would have come had I bought them full price. Well, they arrived this morning and sure enough, the cable that would connect the subwoofer to the laptop is missing. I had assumed this might happen, but I am completely stumped by the shape of the input socket. I'm really not that knowledgeable about this stuff, but it looks a little like a cross between a PS/2 socket (which it obviously isn't) and a MIDI socket. I've found out that the cable I'm missing also incorporates a wired remote, so I'm a bit worried that it might not be a standard cable and I wont be able to use the speakers at all...

This is the cable I'm meant to have: http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w160/bethz0r/cable.jpg

And this is a (terrible) picture of the input socket: http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w160/bethz0r/DSC00397.jpg

So, anyone know what type of cable I need? Or if it even exists outside of this setup?

Thanks a lot,

Beth xxx

Without me looking directly for it, try http://www.lindy.co.uk

In the past I've used them for cables that I can't find anywhere else. Or for cables where everybody else only makes rigid adaptors. Might be worth a look.

Send it back. Unless it's easy to get a replacement cable, without it you've basically got a dud.
