Looked like Southgate was trying to rest some players, but then had to bring Kane on anyway. I've never understood (timewasting aside) why managers make substitutions with 10-15 minutes remaining.

10-15 minutes I can understand - the result of some matches have been changed with a player brought on 5-10 minutes before the end, but I’ve never understood less than 5 minutes, although as you say, time wasting is the most likely reason. I think that substitutions should be banned in the last 5 minutes if a match, unless there’s an injury. But I bet if that rule was brought in, you’d see the increases in injuries in the last 5 minutes rise…

Vs Serbia. Good in parts, still too keen to sit back and allow themselves to be attacked - and against a better side they may well have ben punished for that. Apparently it's the first opening game in the last ten tournaments that we've actually won, or so I was told.*

That's cricket, is it not? If you're asking me, I'm one of those who sees no appeal in the sport myself. Used to be an F1 devotee, until we entered the era of prolonged dominance by single teams - that and putting up with second rate coverage on C4 or stump up for Sky. Nein danken.

Yes, that was a superb innings. Couldn't believe Mitchell Starc's over went for 29 runs!

Happy that Afghanistan managed to kick Australia out!

England looks to be in a very good form and they win the right games to qualify. They are peaking at the right time. The semifinal should be a good game.

Another poor performance, saved by two great goals. Feels like the luck is going to run out very soon unless there are big changes.

The semifinal should be a good game.

The final was a cracker. All came down to that superb catch on the boundary. Had it gone for 6, SA would have won. Instead it was a new man at the crease, the form batsman back in the pavilion and India win the game. A great finish.

Yes, was a very close game worthy of a final! That catch was superb.....catch of the tournament.

Feels like Greece of 2004 and Portugal in 2016. Neither teams played that well throughout their respective Euros.

Credit to Southgate and the players. It's the 3rd semi-final in recent tournaments, in Southgate's 100th game in charge.
