Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting one of the above 2 tv's. Was pretty set on the LG - I liked the picture quality and features, but then I noticed the Samsung TV is around the same price AND offers 3D!

I cant find any reviews on the Samsung - does anyone have any opinions on this set? It looks pretty awesome on paper but I'd really want to see an expert review before commiting

My key requirement is picture quality - if the Samsung can offer that and the 3D, I'm sold

What do you reckon?

Cheers,

Monkeh

Well the worst the Samsung will be in 2D is ''very very close'' to the LG most likely about the same, there are no reviews surprisingly of the samsung.

so for me absolute no brainer - the 3D Samsung wins as the added feature is significant benefit in my eyes. In fact I just bought a 3D pana after some consideration of options (including the sammy) but all the options I considered were 3D as I think 3D is great

i agree with john , theres nothing to suggest the lg will be a better 2d tv , samsung plasmas have traditionally been better than lg plasmas , ok , lg have improved from last years range , but its highly likely the samsungs will have also improved , and with 3d as a nice bonus , its also a no brainer for me , assuming their respective 2d performance is very close , the samsung would be my choice of the two ...

As i've now less time to be here im sorry for using this post to try to help / talk about diferent subjects :

0 - sammy reviews

1 - sammy vs panna vt 20

2 - sammy performance

3- sammy vs lg

There are already 2 reviews about the Sammy , you just have to look for it (italian and espanish ).

Right now i havent got enough time unfortnally to be here...unfortnally

Having the Sammy for about 15 days now and testing all kind of sources and tweaking settings here is my conclusions :

If you want Kuro blacks this is not the set for you , with this set you only get decent good blacks and excelent image performance.

SD material looks reasonable good

HD materials / Blu Ray - excelent picture quality

3d not enough time /content review to state a good opinion , but with few content i saw still fell not confortble , european still wating for firmware upgrade supost to improve PQ and 3d .(as i found not confortable also viewing pana vt20)

LAst night got the chance to review Pana 50vt20 (shop) with my girlfriend , this is my opinion as what it concerns to 3d performance , havent saw 2d performance....that said the pana 50vt20 3d :

Colors looked really good

I saw a litlle bit of cross talk and ghosting like i also see in some content in my sammy ...

If you want percentage - pana 6 % and sammy semms to have 10 % (ghosting / cross talk )

The thing that i didnt like, and make me fell even more pleased about my choice was image flicker that panna showed (3d) and dont see it on my sammy.

The less important - pana glasses are less confortable vs sammy (pana hurt nose )

As to the set design..... theres not much to be said .. that frame / colour general aspect does not good to the brand nor to the price tag... My girfriend said - "is this the pana ??? it as no comparision..."
And honestly i could live/acept a lot better - the 50v10 design (the unit i tried to bought )

Well i still havent see the 2d performance of pana , so cannot state/ compare performace in this field , i plan to see it in the next few days .... will it deserve the enormous ££££££ almoust 1000 £ ?

Im still at the point that i could return the sammy but from what i've seen from both sets :

im surely not planning on returning my sammy !

as for LG and the LG sets ive seen i could notice that lg as improved a lot , image color and black levels seem pretty good to me , also very good looking .

As for this fight PS50C7000 vs LGPK990 - sammy gets 3d bonus with same or probably slittly better performance .

No UK reviews so far but if you search for PN50C8000 this is the US version of the PS50C7000 plasma.

Users seem impressed from what i have read and the buzzing issue seems to have been improved/resolved.

I may have to consider this tv if stocks are available over the next 2 weeks when i need to decide between the LG 50PK990, the Samsung PS50C7000 or the Toshiba 46SV685 & 46WL753 models.

Stocks had run dry on the Samsung due to issues producing the screens quickly enough hence the introduction of the PS50C6900 which was the same tv but wthout the Real Black Filter.
