Samsung LE40A686 Query

Hi...got this TV 2 months ago...very happy...looking for bluray player, but Comet info says I need 1080p....I dont think mine has the "p" bit...is this a problem?....ian thanks.

Hey

Don't worry your TV is full HD (1080p) so any blu ray player will work fine at that resolution. A good blu ray player would be the Sony BDP-350, which is 1080p and can be found on amazon for £150!

ipri:PS..I've found a sonyBDP S350.....is this the same?...dont know what the "s" is for...£149 iana ps3 costs a bit more , but is a great blueray player , and if you have broadband you can download hd movies and play them on it , obviously you can play games too if thats your thing , it also upscales dvds very well , you might want to look into it ....

Hi....got my Sony s350 today...£149....have used the same HDMI lead already in use from my old DVD set..A 3m £19 lead....bought " I Legend" !!...picture very good....up close...not the same pinpoint clarity as some store demos I've seen......I gather there is a difference of opinions re lead quality and picture!!..? maybe cos these are often digital pixar fims?? I dont know.....also ....can I buy a speaker system ? cinema type system to attatch?...does this connect to the HDMI input of the TV?.. Does the TV "know" when a new speaker has been added ?

i reckon buying expensive hdmi cables is a waste of money , when i bought my plasma the salesman tried harder to flog me a 100euro hdmi cable than he did a 950euro tv , they prob by em for a tenner , if you get a sound system i think you will need a hdmi from blueray player to sound s , then one from ss to telly , then youd have another hdmi from sat box to s system , the single hdmi to the tv is all you need , so 3 in total i think ...
