Samsung HW-Q990 Owners - What do you think, should I get one?

I started looking at buying an AVR and separates with a view to getting 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 but I am struggling for space around the TV for side speakers and the Q990F (and previous versions) have excellent reviews.

A main objective is to improve dialogue clarity and generally improve audio over the existing 2012 Panasonic (SA-BTT590) 5.1 surround speakers that we have.

How do you feel about the Q990 (any incarnation) and what are the positives and negatives?

I read a review yesterday that stated the ideal room size for the Q990F is "3m diameter" which would be very small - perhaps its an error(?). Our room is roughly 4m x 5m, would the Q990 cope with this, what size room do you use it in?

TIA

I owned the Samsung Q990C and thought it was excellent. The newer sub on the Samsung Q990F has made it even a better buy. Music is really good and so are movies, it’s the best soundbar I have heard. Bluetooth through Spotify and Apple Music is great too. The only downside I can think of is the left and right speakers sound better in separate speakers. And they are more spaced out if you have the room if not then there is no problem. I thought Dolby Atmos was great too especially on Ratatouille what a soundtrack that movie is. It’s definitely a 5 star speaker package and I think it’s a real bargain. If I hadn’t bought some B&W speakers 18 years ago when I got a bargain, then I would buy one for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

I also just bought a new amp after 18 years too. I like the look of the new Marshall Heston 120 soundbar too but I would’ve to recommend the Samsung.

Thanks that’s good to know. I think it’s probably a good solution for us, especially as you pointed out that AO have it for £999 if you take out a £39.99 VIP membership. 😁
