Samsung's in-depth briefing is next week - we'll be bringing you all the news here, just as we have with Sony and Panasonic.

In the meantime, we're expecting one of the brand new Samsung D8000 sets in our test rooms any day now.... If that happens, you'll be reading the review in our April issue, out first week in March.

Andrew / Clare,

Can you ask the test team to report on viewing angle, and at what point does it become a problem? I ask, as while I have always been pro plasma I am now looking at LCD/LED sets and viewing angle is imporatnt with my living room layout.

Thanks,

Paul.

D8000 (lcd) seems to be getting some good early reviews - everyone is impressed with the look and all the gadgets. As always 3D crosstalk is the problem :) would be interested to see how the WHFI team get on with the 3D

The difference between D8000 and D7000 is not just the looks - The D7000 is almost the same as a D8000 but has no Micro Dimming and has a different design (transparent bezel)

seems i was wrong and the only difference is the looks - cant trust everything you read on this internet thingy (even if it was from 2 different sources)

Look forward to the next edition.

read the review - bit short :) perhaps instead of a massive picture we could have more content next time :p very positive write up.

Just to throw my 2 pennies into the pot - the reviewing system for TV's could be a little better in my opinion. Geeks like details :)

1.I would of like to of seen some general comments on input lag for gaming
2. screen reflection comments
3. firmware version it was tested with
4. commenst when watching fast moving sport (football a good example)
5. Comments when watching a movie with a lot of dark colours (dark knight for example)

my list could go on for ever.

Its the first review i had seen of the 46 model most people review the 55 and give it 4/5 or 80% etc.

I found my self thinking i may buy one but part of me wants to wait to see how well Sony LG Panny do (sorry Philips after 2010 you really lost me)

i even subscribed to the mag now. take that money and spend it well

I agree with sosages up to a point.....what happened to breaking up the reviews into sections.....for TVs; Picture out of 5, sound out of 5, features /5 ; value for money /5 then finally overall star rating.....

This gave you a better idea where the product excelled and where it faltered.....

I accept that Andrew, but as a way of direct comparison between 2 or more products, the star rating gave you an idea of how they stacked up at a glance.....wrt specific parameters.....

We still give TVs individual ratings for performance, usability and features (as well as overall star rating) in every Supertest. See p49 of current issue for example

I should say sorry didnt mean to sound like a moaner as normal :)

But ;) in for a penny...it would be super duper if in the future you could post (maybe on the website if no space in the magazine) the settings (contrast / brightness / etc) you used for each source. This is something a lot of people would be interested in and you seem to work hard to obtain the right settings (especially for skin tone)

btw - later on in the mag as part of another feature you recommend for people to purchase the 2010 model and list it way over the price it is. Seems a little odd as you just gave its replacement top marks :)

Can someone from the test team comment on viewing angles for the D8000? My sitting room layout is such that some occasional viewing is at a 160 degree angle, so my current plasma is not an issue (plasma tvs typically have good viewing angles). I like the look and review of the D8000 and can see me now considering both plasma and LCD/LED tvs, but viewing angle at 160 degrees has to be watchable (2D only, not interested in 3D even though I would consider a 3D tv).

Thanks,

Pauled.
