Hi all,

Will be going to RSD at Frank Harvey in the morning. If anyone else is going along and would like to shoot the breeze/have a listen to stuff/grab coffee etc please feel free to get in touch....

Enjoy!

Got Bowies cracked actor live set.nothing else really inspired me apart from the black angels latest offering on a Ltd edition glow in the dark vinyl..but was gone by the time I got there.

Does glow in the dark vinyl need a McIntosh MT5 turntable to play it on?

Have been somewhat disenchanted by RSD offers over the duration of its lifetime.

Same here. I think RSD is all about 'collectors' rather than music lovers – the majority of 'exclusive releases' are issues on coloured vinyl or something else gimmicky of albums which are already available. Still, it's there to give a boost to independent record shops, and it seems to do that very well – our local shop found their queue starting this year before they closed their doors the previous evening – so I'm happy for it to carry on. At least it's only one day, so I can avoid it easily.

Having said that, for the first time in 5 years or so there were two releases I was interested in – a live Anna Calvi LP and an LP or new recordings of a couple of Steve Reich's work. Couldn't get in on the day, but I'll see if I can rustle up copies from somewhere.

I went and queued up to get Elastica, Cure, and most importantly Placebo/Bowie. Didn't get any as they had all sold in the ten minutes it took me to get in.... Then saw them all on ebay later in the day for stupid money.

This is the last year I'm bothering for RSD. Will not do it again. Not being able to order/reserve stuff is ridiculous. Like concenrt tickets, it's just moneygrabbers that end up getting anything out of it.

Quite like record store day myself, Get to meet like minded people whilest queueing up. managed to get 9 albums that I wanted on the day and hopefully another 2 or 3 tomorrow from another record store

My local indie dealer still has quite a few of the Bowie live in LA....apparently he got 200 copies of it and he had one left of the demos..probably too far away for you though....but you could contact big sparra vinyl in Ayr and see if Ian can help you.they do have a Facebook page.

from your local (or not so local) record shop from midnight this Saturday, so if your local shop didn't have what you wanted then you may be able to get them this way.

Cracking day down our local emporium. The Music Box in Wallingford.
Popped in and bought a few things including the latest Laura Marling release, Sleaford Mods, Kate Tempest and Wild Willy Barrett's French Connection - who then turned up in the shop to play - which was a bonus. A spot of lunch by the river in the afternoon followed by a spot of gardening when I got home. A lovely Saturday all in ;-)
