Rotel Amplifiers versus ?

Just listened to a Rotel RB06/RC06 combination and we were very impressed. It seemed a lot better than the Marantz PM6002, but at £600 versus £300 you would hope it did! For £600 is there any other amplifer(s) we should be trying (also tried Arcam but we did not like them). There were no Cyrus or Roksan available to try.

System is to replace Denom amp that died.

Having owned and cherished the Rotel RA03 I agree that they're great amps. Very musical, nice tonal balance, plenty of punch but maybe not the last word in detail. I think you owe it to yourself to audition the Roksan Kandy K2 though.

Try the Marantz PM7003 or it's bigger brother (what would have been the KI version till Marantz changed the product numbering configuration), the PM8003. Should bring things into balance a little more. If you can, look out for the PM7001 KI, the 8003's predecessor. If you like a good dose of clarity, detail and a healthy dynamic range, the Marantz gear typically has it with room to spare. Used their kit for years and love it.
