Attached is a rough illustration of the wooden equipment cart that we're currently having fabricated by a local cabinet maker.
It rolls on industrial casters and has a retro, perforated particleboard back.
Not visible behind the components are the back panel cutouts for interconnect wiring.

Putting the electronics on a rolling cart instead of standard hi-fi shelving makes it easy to access the rear wiring
without making a federal project out of it. Not having an open back hides the unsightly interconnect spaghetti.

I've never previously seen a setup like this, so what do you think of the idea?

Sounds weird and illustration is not visible to me....

If it wasn't apparent.

I've come to detest the stacks of boxes trad hifi entails over the years, so racks to accommodate it all are about as appealing as root canal treatment without anesthetic to me.

So I wouldn't welcome it in my living areas , but it's not dissimilar to something I'd have in my garage...
