i am thinking of upgraded my quads 11L for the roksan kandy k2 speakers. i have the roksan k2 amp with dacmagic and quad 11L speakers, which sounds good but can somtimes sound a bit shouty,i was wondering if the roksan k2s would help this problem with out over bright sound.

You could probably do with trying them out at home; IIRC, the K2 has a ribbon tweeter? I think in the wrong combination, this feature can appear a tad over-bright. See how you get on in your set-up if you can but I'd assume (perhaps wrongly!) that Roksan would've aimed for them to work well together.

Well, the point of trying out at home (assuming you are near a dealer who will do this) is to aviod splashign out and taking a hit. Might not be practical, but some dealers, on the other hand, will ship out a used pair or ex-dem, for you to try. All you need to do is be careful for a few days...!

I have the full K2 set up and can say that the overall sound is fairly neutral. Some may say it lack bass or treble but Massive Attack still punches out some weight and Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA still sounds over bright.

If you like to use a Loudness button or crank up the tone controls I would advise against but if you like middle tones, vocals and clarity I would suggest giving them an audition.

Personal tastes and room acoustics may vary of course.

i am mostly happy with my curent sound but some 80s rock and older stuff can make it sound shouty ,also some more omph would not go a miss, i have heard the full k2 set in the shop which i found neutral with a warm bass, it also sounded bouncy with good Rhythm i was impressed . but my dacmagic might make it sound bright. may need to demo it with my dac magic.

My Caiman DAC adds a small touch of life to the proceedings when using the Mac compared to the CD player but you really have to be concentrating to notice and it was not a bad thing IMHO.
