Ripping from audio streams

Hi all,

just discovered Spotify, which is an amazing music resource that you can stream for free. Problem is you cannot download the tracks, so was looking at recording the stream. I have a MacBook Pro and was thinking of paying for Audio Hijack. Has anyone used this and is there anything better before I do?

Any help would be ace.

Oh there was another one that was free that I downloaded but not being at my mac I can't find it on google - however, there's a list here.

I have been invited onto Spotify and very good it is too. I have listened to a 20 track album with two 20 second interruptions for adverts, (the Energy Saving Trust and 'tax need not be taxing', I love Moira Stewarts voice!), so it is better than the radio. Based on the above I found an application called Freecorder which states that it is free and will record music off the internet as a WAV file. Does this really mean I can record music off Spotify and then put it onto my ipod? It just seems a bit too good to be true; there must be a catch, cost or illegality about it surely?
