Hi,

first things first: I am a newbie. Second: I had the opportunity of listening to the Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Concert Grand SE, matched with an Amplifier Ayon Spirit III KT 150. I fell in love with them both even though my budget says no.

I came up with the following "cheaper" alternative for the two:
1. AYON ORION III

2. BEETHOVEN BABY GRAND SE
To start, I'd match them with the following cd-player that I already have:
3. Samsung BD-H6500 - Multiroom Blu-Ray Player and with 4. a cheap DAC (still to find), e.g. PRO-JECT DAC BOX S USB My idea is to replace 3. and 4. in the future with something matching the quality of 1. and 2.My question to you guys: what do you think about the config above? Can be somehow improved, taking into account that I would have around 1000 USD left to spend? Thank you!Raffaele

Welcome to the forum Raffaele. Perhaps you could supply a bit more information with what exactly you are going to use as a source. Is it purely CDs or are you ever likely to get into streaming?

While the Samsung will play your CDs it is not really going to do them justice as you seem to appreciate.

Although I have never heard any Ayon product I am aware of the reviews they get.

You have the funds for a very good CD player if that is what you are looking for,I wouldn't waste any money on the Project DAC unless your intention is to play back music from a laptop.

Perhaps you could expand on exactly what you want.

Hello Al Ears,

what exactly you are going to use as a source. Is it purely CDs or are you ever likely to get into streaming?
No streaming, but playing files from a laptop will be likewise important. The music to be played will be mainly classical music and opera. While the Samsung will play your CDs it is not really going to do them justice as you seem to appreciate.I totally agree. The fact is that the config I've listened to included as cd-player the AYON CD-1SX, at a price much higher than the 1000 USD left in my budget. And even the less pricey AYON CD-07S USB is 3 times more. That's why I've thought to postpone its purchase to better times. But if you have in mind some cd-player at around 1000 USD that would "make justice" to my config (AYON ORION III + BEETHOVEN BABY GRAND SE), please let me know.By the way, would a very good cd-player for my original config, the Ayon Spirit III KT 150 + Vienna Beethoven Concert Grand SE, necessarily be in a completely different league from the ones at 1000 USD? In other words: What would be a very good (and "cheap") cd-player to match with 1) AYON ORION III + BEETHOVEN BABY GRAND SE2) Ayon Spirit III KT 150 + Vienna Beethoven Concert Grand SE Yes, I am taking into consideration again the original config. And this after reading some not entirely enthusiastic reviews about the Baby Beethoven's bass performance and its "lack of spank even at high volumes"

Hi Vladimir, I've only listened to:config 1: Cambridge Audio CX Series config 2: Pro-ject Box DSboth matched with speakers Focal Aria 926 and Vienna Bach. I was looking at that price range, but after listening to the vienna beethoven and ayon amps, I changed my mind. Question for you:I'd like to hear some valide alternatives to Vienna + Ayon. Any to recommend? (I live in Europe)
