Hi, the subwoofer with my Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 set-up seems to have developed a serious fault (not uncommon I gather). Buying a completely new speaker system is, of course, an option, however I'd like to consider just replacing the sub-woofer in the first instance. Any recommendations gratefully received ! (for info, my room measures 6m by 6m, and my surround amp is a Sony DA1200ES). Thanks.

Your room is quite big which is great. I would look at Rel. Not just cause I have one but they are amongst, if not the best in the world.

An SVS SB1000 would be a very good starting point . To my mind one of the first subs that really performs.

Thanks all. Budget will be what it needs to be, but replacement sub needs to be compatible with the Boston XS satellites. I can't see spending more than £300-400 is justified. Beyond that, the only sensible option is a complete new speaker system.

I wouldnt discount nick at hsounds advice re SVS but for 400 ish the xls400 is good option
