Hi all,

I own the Sennheiser HD477 headphones and I like their sound very much. I appreciate the warm bass they deliver.

Recently one of the input cords (left) was damged and I can not hear from the L ear so I decided to buy a new set. I purchased the HD 435. They have a very powerfull and clean sound in general but I find the bass (although controlled and punchy) too much for me and after a while it sounds extreme.

Can you please suggest some other options close to the sound of HD477. I listen to rock music and I like the bass to be warm, punchy but not extreme.

Thanks

Hi Yannis. Sennheiser tune a lot of their headphones so as to boost the bass. I had a look at the specs for the HD435 and they are not one of the range where they emphasise bass. See here...

I have heard the HD201s. They have a bass which is clear and does not overwhelm and a sound quality way above their price. Their build quality is to a price, but the sound is not. I used them straight out of an ipod and was really taken with them. Then look at the HD457 which specifically refers to a warm bass, which you mention. I have not heard them. Can you try before you buy or get from somewhere with a returns policy?

Thanks for the time you spent to give me all info.

Unfortunatelly listening to various models before buying is not easy here in Cyprusm specially regarding headphones.

After listening to HD435 for few days I find them very good with very controlled bass but I would prefer it a bit less empassised.

Thanks again

Yiannis
