My 8000a is on it's last legs. I want to replace it with something more convenient i.e. an amp with a remote control. Always loved the Audiolab sound so I suppose the first audition should be the new 8000s which is now available for less than £300. From reviews I am led to believe the sound is comparable more with the original 8000a rather than the original higher priced 8000s.
It will be used with Pro-ject Xpression II / Cambridge Audio 640p, Dynaudio Audience 40 speakers and Airport Express / Cambridge DACMagic (when I can get one - I am next on the list at the Liverpool store apparently).
My question is should I be looking at any other amps in the £250 / £300 price bracket? Auditioning facilities in Liverpool are non-existant but I travel to Manchester regularly and can try and listen at Sevenoaks, Superfi, Practical Hi-Fi, etc.
I listen to mainly Indie, Americana and Alt country. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated
