Repair or Replace?

I have a Rotel RSX-1056 which has served me very well for over ten years but it has developed a minor fault (it cuts out and switches itself off). I can either get it fixed at a cost of around £180 direct from Rotel, this would include firmware and software upgrades or I can buy a new receiver/amp, (budget up to £500)?

Will I notice better sound quality and functionality with a modern day receiver or should I stick with my trusty Rotel?

The simple answer my friend is: "How much do you like the Rotel?". I think you would have to spend a lot more money to improve upon it.
