Hi all

Wondering if anyone could answer a basic question on buying a remote control for 2 Marantz devices

  • PM-66SE
  • 5 CD Changer QC3000
I may also be purchasing a Marantz Tuner model ST55

I would love to get a remote control for these devices, and it seems there is an individual for each unit - im wondering is there one single Marantz (or Marantz compatible) remote available? Being one uniform brand, perhaps one of the remotes would overlap and provide functionality for each device? Or would i have to consider a universal?

Really appreciate the help - sincere thanks

Welcome!

I don’t *know* but my experience with Marantz, Primare and Linn items is that there is some unwanted overlap. There is a common code for remotes, I think it might be Philips RC-5, and you may find at least one of your Marantz items uses the same.

However, you do need a button to select between each component, otherwise you’ll find, for example, that you want to skip a CD track but end up changing radio presets!

Aside from asking Marantz, you might find one of the several universal remote websites gives you some pointers.

Try one of those programmable remotes.
One For All (see Amazon) do a range.

They can control multiple devices.

E.g.

One For All Essence 4 Universal Remote Control - Operates 4 devices (TV Freeview Blu-ray and Audio) – Learning feature - Works with all brands - Black -URC7140 https://amzn.eu/d/7PZSL1X

You might try a universal remote control

Not sure about your vintage but I have a PM4200 and a CD5000. the remote that cam with the CD player only operates that device but the one that came with the amp (RC4200PM) calls itself a system remote controller and works with lots of Marantz products.
