My Kids and partners, and my wife have bought me a Rega RP3 for my 50th birthday.

So pleased, all I need now is some vinyl and time to listen to it.

I am looking at Amazon for new vinyl, any suggestions for good sites?

Excellent the RP3 is a great TT

I am sure if you have been following this part of the forum you will have lots of insight in to vinyl & TTs.

diversevinyl.co.uk is quite good I have been lucky with ebay too!

I've got a couple of years before I hit 50 and I hope my wife and kids are as generous, well done and happy listening

I tend to get my vinyl either locally or via amazon as they package so well.

Nice birthday present. There are plenty of sites online for new vinyl - Amazon, DiverseVinyl and so on. I've always bought plenty of second hand vinyl off of eBay. I've found that in general people are pretty fair at describing the state of the record in the listing (well put it this way, I've never bought one that didn't play or just needed a little cleaning). Charity shops still have some great bargains to be discovered. Of course there could well be some great independent record shops near you as well.

Enjoy.

Thanks guys for the responses, I have had some vinyl turn up from ebay, Amazon, and my local record store. I'll check out the online sites that you've

recommended.

I have ordered some cleaning fluid to give some of them a good clean, but on the whole there pretty good, secondhand.

I must say that I have come to the conclusion that I might have been wasting my time with CDs for the last 30 years.

The sound from vinyl is so rich with everything, it's a job to explain, but I could listen for hours. I am so pleased and wish I had done it sooner, but who knows, Perhaps now is just the right time for me.

Welcome to the Party!!!

Just seat down and enjoy your records. I clean every record, even the new one, some time they come charged with electrostatic and a good clean resolve the problem.

Get a Knosti and make up your own cleaning fluid - I use 80% distilled water 20% Isopropyl Alcohol and a few drops of dishwasher rinse aid - 500ml fills the Knosti up - its cheap so I just chuck it out after cleaning 4-5 records. Then i put my clean records in a Nagaoka Anti Static Sleeves, if the outer jacket needs a repair then a Pritt Stick does an excellent job!

You don't need the dishwasher, the Isopropyl alcohol do all the cleaning, just add ILFORD Ilfotol wetting agent to eleminate the static, some of the clicks and pops are Static electricity!

70% distiled water

20% Isopropyl alcohol

10% Ilfotol wetting agent

10% Ilfotol wetting agent

dishwasher rinse aid does the same job - it is a surfacant

isopropyl alcohol serves to aid drying negating the need for drying - kleenex are not lint free are they - thats bad news fella!

The wetting agent is used in film with several purposes, one of them is to eleminate electrostatic from the film!

Regardering the kleenex hand towels they are clean, with no dross, and mine dont leave nothing behind.

and how to you dry yours?

they just air dry in the Knosti drying rack, the isopropyl speeds up the drying about 8-10 mins with no residue left!

I guess we all have our own cleaning regime that gets the same results!

yes it is! But then again, the isopropyl alcohol will not eleminate all the static, and the Ilfotol will!

The Isopropyl alcohol is a cleanig agent.
