I tried them and thought that they had a lit treble and excellent bass control. Very nice speakers indeed. Probably best paired with a neutral to warm amp. Just my experience.

I actualy found the treble very sweet! Ive got some some fairly forward sounding Hi Hi Roksan Kandy cdp + CA 840a and im finding some speakers a bit fatiguing, but the regas i could listen too all day long. and shiny new for £500 seems like a bargin.

The quad 22l l2 were better than i thought to mmmm perhaps its becouse it a familiar sound but with better bass

If you like the sound of the R5's then you really oew to yourself to have a listen to the Rs3's and Rs5's as well. Depending on your room, the 3's may well be a better match. The side placed bass drivers give you a few more options for setting the speakers into to the room as well. I had the R3's (originals) for a while, and enjoyed listening to them. I only changed because I changed listening rooms, and the Spens I have now could drive the room better. If I ever have the money the spens could easily make way for for Rs7's. Rega have been making good sounding speakers for 20 odd years, and they do seem to learn all the time.

I am in Canada. Listened to Rega R5 (which is now on special) and quite impressed. The dealer has not yet received RS5 yet. How would you comment if I use R5 for pop/rock music? I am using Rega Apollo CD player, and a NAD Integrated Amp (only 80watt output). Thanks!

I know drummerman used to swear (sorry for the bad lang) by pairing Rega's with Cyrus. I've never heard them, although I believe I could be missing a trick, as a number of you guys highly recommend them.
