Rega P3 or Technics SL100C

Any cartridge suggestions? It will only be used occasionally for treasured music on vinyl so I do not want (or can) spend too much. Budget up to £350. MM only.

In the past I have always preferred the Ortofon sound to AT. More direct and less 'etheral' but that was on different tonearms/tables.

If you like Ortofon they have a new series of cartridges coming out soonthat start at £269, the MC X.
However they are moving coil......

They look tempting (and very nice). I would probably look at the MCX20. Thing is, it only comes with a nude elliptical on an aluminium cantilever. I know there is more to it than this but the fact that I can not replace the stylus and an elliptical may last 600 or so hours and I will have to replace the cartridge makes me hesitate. Plus I only have MM phono stages so will need another preamp. Still, 6-700 hours is a long time and would probably last me a couple of years.

This leaves the Ortofon 2M Bronze or perhaps the latest AT-VM750xSH or the microline version, both with Boron Cantilevers and advanced stilii and both around £300

Have to say I don't like the look of these but that is just shallow me 🙂
