Guess the cartridge has a lot to say in this matter, but still.

My budget is around the Rega RP3 or Project 1Xpression Carbon.

In my opinion rock needs an open sounding turntable. Like cartridges. Which of the two TT brands would you say is the most open sounding?

This is only my opinion : both decks will do a grand job, personally i thought the RP3 was a superb deck and with th TT PSU upgrade you can further improve the sound. Go for the RP3, but get a Nagaoka MP150 cart for it - it will blow the Elys 2 away x

Personally I wouldn't pay that sort of money for a turntable fitted with those cartridges. The 2M silver or the Elys 2 are not particularly good.

Buy a turntable sans cartridge and get a Nagoaka MP150 or similar, better still the MP200.

A cheaper turntable with a more expensive cartridge like these is the way to go.
