With only a case change, was a review necessary?

'Once it has had a few hours to settle, this little phono stage turns in a strong performance'
🤨Good old 'burn-in' strikes again.
I'd love for WHF (or anyone else) to explain precisely what happened during the few hours when it was 'settling in'.

The tester's brain may have settled in - though that should have been fairly easy - since there was no change from the previous award-winning version 🙄

I don't get it. I have a Rega Fono MM Mk5 and it's good but a perfect 5 out of 5 stars based on a 5-4-3 score? I have an iFi Zen Phono too and it received 4 stars with a 4-5-5 score. It doesn't add up and the reviewer's bias is getting in the way. Especially when you consider the price difference between the Rega and iFi. Despite Rega Fono MM's long reign here as a class leading champion, it's time to admit the ol' boy is getting a bit long in the tooth. Does it really hold up to modern contenders? A little objectivity may be just the motivation Rega needs to do a little extra R&D instead of giving us a shiny new box every few years.
