Im currently putting together my first setup and have so far purchased rega planar 3 (latest) with elys 2 and Dali zensor 3's second hand. My budget is blown and there's no way I can get the new rega brio; so, my question is - how good is the rega brio r in 2020. Are there newer amps out there that can better a second hand brio r for around £250 ish?

+1 vote for a Marantz. They go very well with Dali speakers. You’ll easily find a second hand PM60006 for that money, possibly the superior UK SE version. You’ll also be able to find a PM66 K.I in very good condition: brilliant amps with a great phono section.

If not the PM6006 then there's always the 6005 or 6004, think the only difference is a DAC in the amp on the 6005 and 6006, if you don't need a DAC then they'll all sound the same.

Thanks very much for all the replies. Seems I was a bit optimistic hoping to find a brio r at that price, but the marantz and nad options given will fit the bill perfectly!

My vote would go for offerup on

- Marantz PM6006
- Cambridge Audio CXA60
- NAD D3020

All within range, and they sound very decent with Dali/Wharfdale/ELAC.

Nad D3020 V2 has a built in phonostage.

The v1 of the amp get's pretty hot so beware of that, also i don't like the volume knob at all since it's way to firm imho on both versions.
