recommended turntable for my system

This is not just about what is best. I havent had a turntable for 30 years but am looking now. I have just upgraded my kit to the cambride CX range (CXA80) and monitor audio silver 6. I have no idea what level to chose for a turntable, would a 5 star budget unit be good enough or do I need to spend more to match what I have now?

Big question is: How much do you want to spend?

Can't see an integral phono-stage on the CX so you're either gonna need an external phono stage or a turntable with one built in, these will be limiting factors affecting both your budget and your turntable options.

If you haven't had a turntable for 30 years can I ask why you want one now? Do you own lots of vinyl?

As DougK points out you may have started with the wrong amp resulting in another box or turntable with inbuilt phono preamp, which often are not the best.
