hi

i own 2B&W m1's hooked up with a marantz pm6004 (simple amp). a few days ago i got a subwoofer denon dsw65 from my friend who didn't needed it anymore.

my goal is to make a 2.1 system out of it. my amp doesn't have pre out nor a pre sub.

what do i need? a reviever? (NR or SR series of marantz?) a tuner? i have no idea

thank you

If all you want to do is create a stereo system using the subwoofer, then the most cost-effective way is going to be to find yourself an amplifier with preouts to feed the sub. Something like the Rotel RA-10 would do the job very well, or it might be worth scouring the usual used hi-fi sources for an older amplifier with this facility.

However, not entirely sure whether this is the best way to spend your money – you don't say what you're using to play your music, but can't help feeling you might get a better sound by upgrading the main speakers to something with a bit more bass weight and leaving the subwoofer out of the system. Speakers such as the Award-winning Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 are likely to give you more bang for your buck than cobbling up a system using the Denon sub and the B&Ws.
