maxflinn:daveh75:maxflinn:there is a gadget that works around that problem, i think scene uses one for his av system, he's got doors on the front of his stand, some kind of infa red thing i think...
Yep, an IR extender/repeater would get around the issue.
aye, one of these perhaps? only £17.99...

Friend of a friend had one of those, he told me the quality was not very good and his broke down.

With some things you get what you pay for, the Xantech is not cheap but all the people I know who have one, have never had any issues with them.

I am not saying don't buy one but be careful.

i need one that can fit four components , avr, cdp, stereo amp and bdp, preferably two up two down, one with wheels would be handy too, and it needs to be strong enough to take a 50in plasma on top..

budget is £150-£200.. thats a bit low i know, but im hoping it can be done, im not expecting anything made of top quality materials, obviously, just something half decent looking.. any suggestions?? thanks...

Max,

Would this be of any use, or am i way off the mark.

EDIT: I know it says 32", but it will hold 100Kg, but is the style all wrong.

hi max try here - http://www.alphasonclearanceoutlet.co.uk/

http://www.alphasonclearanceoutlet.co.uk/TV_Stands/Alphason_ACB1000-B.htm - i have one of these in gloss black in my spare room and think its great in terms of look and build quality - the gloss balck is flawless once you realise everything is shrink wrapped and needs removing lol

im gonna change my mind again folks
emotion-10.gif
..

matengawhat.. that is perfect
emotion-21.gif
, its only a metre wide but that should hold two components side by side right? and its compact and quite nice looking, and its cheap...

i think ill have to reconsider getting one from ikea if a few bob more can get me one of them
emotion-21.gif
..

now ill check if they deliver to ireland..

edit...no delivery to ireland

Had a couple of beers but the internal measurement (the gap) are as follows - 25cm high 47cm wide and 44 cm deep - the shelf has 3 mounting holes from top of gap to bottom them are at 9.5,12.5 and 15.5cm down

thats obviously times 2!

thanks, 44cm is the standard width of components, so 47cm is fine, 25cm high is loads for ventilation, and 44cm deep is fine too..

yup, im gonna try and get one, thanks again..and enjoy the beers

This looks great, actually. My centre speaker will fit snugly on the top shelf, and I like it aesthetically (quite a lot, in fact). Just wondering about the whole remote through solid doors factor; but otherwise this might be purchased in a week or so...

Though looking again, my receiver would have 4mm head-room, so would suffocate quickly, I'd imagine. This is what's so frustrating. Every time I think I've found a stand that fits the bill, there's never quite enough space for either the centre speaker or AVR.

maxflinn:my centre is gone strapped, just a 2.1 set-up for me for the foreseeable..i had put my tv on a piece of wood when i had the centre, and that solved the problem for me..i know your stand is oval shaped but you could have a piece cut to suit and either sprayed black, or put a black veneer around it?
strapped, i meant your g20's stand is oval (i think it is), in case there's any confusion? you could get a piece of wood cut to the same size, or a touch bigger, place it under your panas stand and then your centre is in the best place, on top of your av stand in front of your tv, whilst not getting in the way of your tv...

My Pana's a G10; and didn't come with a stand, otherwise it would have been worth a go.

I bought a £50 stand from Amazon when I got the TV, which just about does the job. It's no looker, though, just a typical, 4 metal columns and 3 sheets of toughened black glass design (which also means you can see all the cabling behind, despite the so called 'cable management' system).

oh yea g10, no i dont mean stand as in av stand..i mean the oval shaped stand/plinth call it what you will that shipped with your tv, that your tv sits on, is connected to..if you raise that up by way of a piece of wood or something then your centre wont obscure your tv,,,

Ah, see what you mean. My centre speaker fits on the stand I have; it's just not a very pretty stand. I'm interested in 'upgrading' for aesthetic rather than functional reasons, so I'm not sure I'd get a look I'm happy with by placing wood on top (might help if it was pretty wood, though).

I'm just really venting frustration, because I've been on the lookout for TV stand for about 6 months. If I had a garage/workshop, and the appropriate tools, I'd have a bash at making my own!

I don't know if you have anything similer where you live, but not far where i live there's a little shed a sort of cabinet makers where you draw it, they make it with wood of your choice, it might be worth finding out if their is one near you, might be expensive though.
