Hey, I got a bit of a weird room as knocked down a wall and got a 20 foot long room, and about 10ft to the TV.

My sofa is against the wall and speakers are on brackets, one at each side of the sofa, the MS brackets dont allow the speakers to turn all the way to the ear, so they are more pointing towards the TV than my ear.

They are slightly above my head.

I cant put the speakers side by side, as like I said knocked a wall down.

Is this ok? as some sites are saying they need to be pointed at your ears on each wall, others say no.

L/S --------------- TV -------------- RS

------------------- SOFA ---#--------------------

No wall R/S ---------------WALL----------------------- R/S Wall on this side

Sucky diagram, but not good with pics uploading ect.. hope it makes sense.

Thanks

If it is possible to put the rear speakers on stand, I would place them in face forward direction (speaker-to-sepaker direction) and make distance about 60cm from rear walls. The rear speaker position will be a bit in front of sitting line, but I think it is acceptable and effective

In a similar situation myself in the past, I read that surround speakers should never point directly at you when they are close to your seated position as they become very 'obvious'. You are after all only wanting the 'effects'. They sound pretty well placed to me and as long as you have run the 'set up' properly, I don't see a problem.

Yes indeed. Another problem is when sitting at the left side or right side of the sofa, it would be too close to rear speakers. At these point, rear speakers should not be pointed directly to listening position or otherwise the person who sit near them will suffer. This is reason why manufacturers recommend us to place rear speakers at least 2 feet higher than ear level.

Yeh, I thought that was a bit silly as you would only hear one end if the were ear to ear.

I have mine about a foot above my head and the MS brackets for the alumni will only allow about a 20 degree inward turn, so they do go as far as i am sitting in the middle of the sofa.

Cant have stand as my toddlers will play with them, thats why I have ordered the R370HD as its downfire.

Thanks

I actually looked at those, but decided just wanted a simple set up, and the wife was not happy about cables going up the wall.

Buying new is not an option, she is annoyed that I have spent about £1000.00 so far with my new R370HD.
