Would appreciate some feed back of this statement-

" It’s not always perfect, though, and there is the odd peculiar bit of ghosting that some rivals don't suffer. But given how much more detailed the Philips is – and the gap is remarkably wide – that’s a small price to pay."

What im saying is how noticeable and often does this happen. And is it really that bad i mean if you compare it to other models excluding the sonys wonderfull motion system.

Because i dont want to be sitting there with the Boss (who has finally decided im allowed to treat my self with my money) and then she says how much did this cost!

So say i was watching a action packed film like the dark knight. Would it be detailed action or plagued by ghosting.

All viewing will be Bluray.

Any views are appreciated.

Thanks

HI,bought the philips about a month ago,and its brilliant.

The 5 star review it is truly justified.

It is a little bit tricky to set up,i turned most of the settings to off or minimum, but once you've set it to how you want it,well you'll want to live infront of it.

The dark knight played through a pioneer BDP-LX52 was fantatic, blacks are deep yet crisp, colours vibrant and no sign what so ever of ghosting.

In my opinion and i did a lot of viewing of other tv's this the best money i've spent on an lcd.

Its very good with standard def sky programmes as well as skyHD.

well thats good to hear. So have u experienced any ghosting on any source?

Also as you own one could you adress these for me.

i was thinking about the pioneer 320. so does the philips and pioneer work in harmony together (any lyp sync issues) cos that is something that boils my blood.

is the sound as good as reviewed because that is a big selling point to me.

Also what viewing distance are you from the tv.

Thanks for the reply.

We run the 47" 9664 with the Pioneer LX52 Bluray player and so far have no issues. Sound wise i wouldnt expect too much. It is certainly good for a TV but as screens get thinner it is harder to get a really good sound.

The TV is cracking though, you will not regret buying one.

The sound isnt bad to bad considering it is a flat screen,i run a yamaha rx-v1900 so sound wasnt as important as picture.

No lyp-syncing isnt an issue with the 52 and no ghosting from any sources that ive noticed.

I sit 3 metres away from the screen and resolution in high def is stunning, any further away tho and i'd recommend the 47" .

hope this helps

I have been fidgeting with the calibration settings of my 42PFL9664. I used the DVE HD Basics BRD. I am a HD newb since my first experience with the medium is from the beginning of 2009. It's funny since I took considerable care in picking and choosing the hi-fi set but watched movies for years on a 51 cm supertech telly :rotfl:After reading up on this and AVS forum I bought DVE to set things up.

Callibrations Settings

Contrast 100

Brightness 51

Color 53

DNR off

Tint normal

PNM Minimum (or of for some material)200HZ on

A.Sh. off

dyn contrast off

dyn backlight off

mpeg off

colour improvement off

PC mode off

light sensor off

Format not on scale

Ambilight

Brightness 4

Warm White 8 9

I took some pictures. Even the colour filter ones sort of worked

ambilight brightess (with warm white settings from this site's tester)For now I'm very pleased with the images this set can conjure up :thumbsup:hope this helps. Is there any way of improving green without resorting to proffesional help?
