lol very true, but remember in the dark days of Flatscreen TVs anno 2001, TVs were HD ready but there was No Bluray, HDdvd, Sky HD, so it takes awhile for the content to catch up with the hardware

those 7 are for normal tvs , i dont think there is even one 3d blu-ray , designed for use on the new 3dtvs available , ok , its no big deal , but it sure is silly , if i had the money for a 3d tv , i might buy one if there was even a handful of good movies to watch on it , but zero movies ?? im baffled ...

Well it's like the chicken and the egg right? What's the point of releasing the 3D Blu-rays when nobody has a 3D TV yet? Same with the Sky 3D channel and the other 3D channels coming on Sky, what's the point in spending the money to broadcast these dedicated channels when no-one can watch them yet? From everything that's been said it seems that the TVs are starting to hit the market this spring but the big "launch", if you will, is this summer. I'd expect that's when we'll see all of the content to watch on your shinny new 3D telly start flowing. After all the first year or so that this stuff is on the market it's really only the early adopters who are going to be buying in right? And the early adopters always pay the price for their accelerated uptake of technology with limited content availability as the tech takes time to disseminate.

yes , it will be the summer before most of the 3d tvs will be on the market , so there is time yet for some movies to be readied , i believe it would defo help to sell more 3d tvs , and obviously players, and by the same token , if there is no 3d content to display on them , it will hurt sales ..

given the amount of investement that has gone into this 3d launch , i would have thought that the tv makers would have made sure there was some 3d content around to coincide with it , if not , its a big mistake in my book ....

Hi,

While I don't agree that the format will grip with any immediacy and I personally don't 'feel the need', there are a few films about. UP - Avatar - SKY will launch it's dedicated 3D channel (no idea of timeline) - there will be a couple of things to watch and for those who may purchase a TV over the next few months, the option to have 3D within the specifications may be something they are willing to pay for. Agree that 2 films (7 has been mentioned elsewhere) isn't reason enough to buy in but look how many people on here want to 'future proof' their latest purchases whether it's an amp, TV, PC or BD player.

I think too much focus will be placed on the 3D aspect of movies/material and the content/plot will be secondary making for a (possibly) good visual experience but the overall impact of the movie will be poor. In the case of TV material I wouldn't like to comment. There's currently nothing on TV that I can think of that would benefit from the 3D effect.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Everyone's talking about Sky's 3D channel, what most seem to be overlooking is that it will more likely be similar to what we have with BBC's HD channel, most content is going to be limited and will be shown on a loop for about a year, I did hear somewhere that even the World Cup is now not going to be broadcast nationally in 3D. I could be wrong, but probably not.

The only films that will be available first off are going to be animated affairs, okay for little Johnny and Mary, as long as they're over six years old and that they will look after your nice new 3D glasses after they decide they're bored after the first ten minutes. As for Avatar... utter rubbish. The people that haven't seen it yet will probably stay well clear.

As for what I have seen of the Samsung 3DTV there's major problems with the backlighting, they need to work on the basics of the set first.

Should have gone to specsavers. LOL.
