Back on track…
I keep considering the AETHOS now as the only real contender to this Platina and similarly priced it’s hard not to see the value in the Platina ( excepting the politics).
I’m thinking it’s also a ROON capable device, but I have avoided roon like the plague, but if so, would,it negate a separate streamer ?

The Platina amp is only Roon Tested not Roon Ready, and since you'd need a Roon server, be it a PC or standalone device, you're still better off with a seperate streamer.

listened to a Hegel H150 into Fine F700 today; I am impressed.
Platina test on Saturday hopefully.

Apologies for appearing abrupt but it's an amplifier at the end of the day.
If you need a brilliant phono stage make sure it has one.
If you need an internal DAC, then likewise.
If you need room correction then you're likely to lose the sound quality of the amplifier itself.
None of which really matters as it's always going to be how well that amplifier manages the speakers you intend to drive it with.

Might I also suggest you try a Parasound Halo Hint 6 as , apart from room correction, it's brilliant at everything else.
Phono stage, DAC, true 2.1 amplifier and will happily drive any speaker you care to connect......

An EVERSOLO T8 into the Platina may well be heavenly

A good combination however at same price a DMP-A8/EX-M7 will surpass them.
