QSound??

Just been giving the above CD a spin, after many years gathering dust. OK, so she's a weapons'-grade pain in the Aris' but the CD's brimming with fine tunes. But, it also sounds amaaaazing - really 'alive' with almost zero compression. Was mastered using QSound, which appears to be currently flourishing in the world of mobile phones but not so in music applications? Anyone know why?

just had a quick listen, no idea about qsound, but i agree about the sound quality - the bass is excellent, really good seperation and punch to the sound. gonna have a dance, i think.

I'd never heard of QSound before this. I've just been on their website and listened to the demo's. It sounds to me as if they've added some out-of-phase effects to the higher frequencies - it's different, but I'm not convinced it's better. As for compression effects, I couldn't judge on the strength of a download, but I don't (think I) have any CDs using it. What other CDs are there using this technology?

I don't have any Madonna in my collection (which surprised me, I thought I did), but found Celebration on Spotify and spun up Vogue. Have to say the soundstage is absolutely heeeoooooge - like a full semicricle of sound in the living room...

QSound was developed to enhance perceived spatiality in recordings. It apparently worked better on some albums than others.

I actually had Amused To Death, and still have The Soul Cages.
