I HAVE A QED QUNEX OT OPTICAL CABLE AND I HAVE READ THE

CHORD OPTICHORD IS VERY GOOD .

is it worth upgrading as the chord is only £10 more expensive

connecting to a sony cdp x303es cd player and a sony mds ja20es minidisc player

I agree with no. However, I might add that I doubt you would hear much if any difference with a really top set up changing those cables around. With a budget system (no offence to the OP), the Qunex is probably too much already.
