I just cant decide lol. I need some help in choosing. I am really tempted by the sony 2400es but am not sure if this is my best option under £500. Also can anyone explain if this setup will be an increase in music /cd quality over my current all in one £400 technics stereo or not .Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Denon 1910 is the one to go for in my opinion; not sure if it's better than your technics stereo though?

For that price I would go for the Denon, though you may wish to try the Sony, and a Yamaha also

I use Squeezebox Duet on my Denon with files rip at 320kp which sounds pretty sweet, a lot better than my old Pioneer

Ive been in the same situation as you! Im looking at the denon 1910 and the 2400es after WHF mag gave them good reviews. The best thing i would say is demo them. 'im doing this demo tomorriw so will let you know what i think.

I went for the sony last night in the end. let me know what u think of the denon though. Opted for it as with my ps3 just thought it would intergrate better. I have only got it in 3.1 at the moment. First impressions are good. I will say though at lower levels the old technics seemed better with music but i put this down to the two stereo speakers being larger anb more punchy due to this. But when driven louder the q acoustics are definately better. Still got setting up to do though . I will report back when i have completed all the setup.

i went in for the demo today. I have to say to begin with i am a novice in this field still as im just setting up my first home cinema. But i was blown away on the quality the sound produced by both av's. From reading the reviews and listening to the denon and sony i would say the denon is a tiny tiny bit better, as i thought vocal sounds were clearer on the denon. Although ive used sony products for years and have always liked their products and feel im quite loyal to them, i may just be breaking away from them :(. I intend on gettin the denon now, just seeing if they can improve on the package deal they have offered me or if there is anything better out there.

Blown away?? WoW!!!

Q ACOUSTICS 1010I 5.1 SPEAKERS just a bookshelf type of speakers package but the sound performance really amaze you while they're paired with DENON avr... Agree?

I will buy it without the 1000i SI subwoofer because of the poor reviews from many sources even WHF.

Yea, I will replace it with Mordaunt Short MS309 with cheaper price than 1000SI.........

How about you??

like i said im new to this field of home cinema, but compaired to my sony old ht-ss1100 it blew me away with the quality sound produced from these speakers. You could really tell the differnce! The Denon was abit better on vocal sounds in my opion on the demo to the sony but that was my impression. Although the guys seem to keep sayin that they thought the Onkyo 607 was the best in that price range :S But like the saying goes, you pay for what you get! So there will always be better! This is my first home cinema set up, which is on a budget since im a student :p But ive been working all summer and passed everything so i deserve a treat :D

Pistol Pete1:

Cloud7,

The Q Acoustics 1000s subwoofer is the older version with the poor reviews you mention.

The 1000IS is the improved version, which has been noted in all reviews I have read - including what hifi.

Please check for yourself:

http://whathifi.com/Review/Q-Acoustics-1010i-51/

Hope that helps....

Huh? Really??

What a rude I'm......

Thanks Pete1 for reminding me before I go&purchase.......

That meant, it's not necessary to go other brand within the price range .......,right?

I will take an audition for the 1000Si....

Pete1,

Is there any distortion of 1000Si when playing the Bluray movies like Transformer, Die Hard 4.0 or The Incredible Hulk...??

Nice to hear from you! Thanks!

The sub is good for movies i have had iron man and casino royal in blu ray playing and am happy with the sub. Only thing im little disapointed with is the music quality my 7 year old technics all in one system provided better music. That was £400 7 years ago o did expect this to be better. Maybe its the small bookshelf speakers i have now with the q acoustics .

Hello all! As you can see i have the 1010i speakers but in 7.1 and have it paired with a Sony STR-DG820 receiver and it sounds fabulous for the money and no there is NO distortion from the sub when playing Bluray movies and i'm currently only using my ps3 for movies (bluray player upgrade soon) so sure there is room for the sound to get even better with a decent bluray player. As for the receiver question i'm sure something like the Denon 1910 would that extra bite of muscle and clarity but at the time my budget wouldn't stretch (boo!) otherwise that would've been the sort of receiver i went for....got to admit i'm quite jealous. lol.
