Greetings,

I just purchased the Bower's & Wilkins PX8 last week, and bought a Fii0 KA11 DAC USB-C connected to my iPhone 15 pro with 3.5mm jack and when playing a music at 24bit/192kHz wired with my DAC my output to my headphones only goes up to 24bit/48kHz sometimes it goes to 192kHz it all depends. Could it be my DAC converter is faulty ?

Cheers

What source are you listening to? If you are streaming, then recordings have different bit depths/sampling rates and you’ll see different displays accordingly. Most importantly does it sound good, and is it better than listening from just your iPhone?

Greetings,

Yes it sounds good, but when I have my DAC plugged into my iPhone with 3.5mm plugged in,and it's playing a music track playing at 24bit/192kHz and going to my wired PX8 headphones but its on;y playing 24bit/96kHz to my wired output headphones. I was just wondering why ? If my external DAC is faulty sometimes it goes to 24bit/192kHz to output headphones

Have a look at the user guide - specifically what it says about 'UAC1.0 & UAC2.0 modes' and how you switch between them, using the Fiio control app.

I think that might help you.
But don't be disappointed when the higher rate doesn't sound better.
That won't be the fault of the DAC - more the fault of the hype telling you that it will.

your Px8 already has an onboard DAC/Amp? why did you get another DAC/Amp?

also higher sample rate has never meant better sound.

Oh I did not know this,so it can play 24bit/192kHz with the onboard DAC/Amp ..I can still return it to Amazon only paid $60 for it... some guy on YouTube recommended it.

You might wonder if it make sense to use an external DAC.
The manual says when playing using the analog 3.5 mm connection:
Note: Your headphones must have sufficient charge and be switched on to play audio from ananalogue source device.
Why must it be powered?
Very likely the analog input is converted to digital again. DSP like ANC, EQ, etc. is applied following by a conversion to analog to feed into the internal amp. So in case of an analog source it is ADC >DSP >DAC. One better use the USB audio instead of a external DAC.
