pvr fast playback with sound

My ageing Sony HDD recorder has one brilliant feature: playing back at 1.5 x speed with sound that is very watchable. Does anyone know of current PVRs that have this feature?

Why would you even want this feature?

My parents have a panasonic dvd / hdd recorder that has 1.3x playback.

It's a couple years old now, but you could always look on panasonic's / sony's websites and view the user manuals to see if the feature is still available.

Brilliant for watching things like Horizon, which always get padded with people walking through doors, and recordings of live football, when you really don't have an hour and a half to spare. After a few seconds you forget it's running fast, though there are occasional people who speak too fast to be quite clear. So the real ideal would be variable speed, selectable between say 1.2 and 1.5. Not HiFi, obviously, but really useful.
