Purple hue

Hi,

I've got a Sony KV-36FS70/U Trinitron tv. It's fairly old now but is still a cracking tv. When I switched it on tonight I noticed a purple hue at the bottom right and middle of the left hand sides of the screen. I'm not sure but I think the speakers for my Cinema system may have caused this as I had moved them nearer the tv a few weeks ago. I have moved them away but the hue is still there, anyone know what can I do to get rid of it?

I did something like this but with my sub a while back. It did go away again after a while once the sub was moved, so fingers crossed.

Oh the joys of magnetic fields and CRT TVs. You are correct in assuming that your speakers caused the problem. However do not worry because every time you turn the TV on, the degaussing coil which is based around the inside front edge of your screen will slowly clear away the problem. If however it doesn't, try and find a local TV repair shop and see if you can borrow a degaussing wand from them, but I'd be surprised if you had to go to that extreme !
