Ps3 v AC Ryan playon HD

Been using ps3 for streaming files but my son is taking it to uni with him(how selfish!!!) i have found the picture quality to be very good, audio not quite upto the same standard and ps3 does not support flac and my PC has to be on.

So question is can anyone compare me the ps3 to the playon HD

Can the playon's audio be passthrough'ed to my amp Onk 807???

The biggest upside to the playon is that i do not need pc on, as this would help me be a little Greener!!

most of my movies are xvid and .mkv some with dts

And flac is a bonus

Any views would be most appreciated, thanks

These mediastreamers like the playonhd, wdlive, popcorn hour,lacinema,xstreamer etc play many more formats than the ps3.

Any would do all of what u want with regards to video and audio - high def passthough, flac etc.

I'd suggest having a look at the new playonHD2 which is just out, and getting good reviews on the internet

Google "playonHD2 reviews" and have a look.

I use a PS3 with psmediaserver to stream flac and all other formats like mkv and such. It works like a charm providing you have a wired network connection!

And you can play games and bluray!

AC Ryan are just about to launch a player called FLUXX and judging by the specs on the website, it appears to be The Dog's Danglies.
You may want to hold off buying the PLAYON unit until the new one hits the stores in April.
