Evenin' all,

My step-son is going wappy as there are persistent problems maintaining a wireless connection on his PS3 for any length of time. Same not an issue for the family laptops. Has anyone else experienced this and/or any suggestions/remedies, other than going down what will be an insanely long ethernet connection??!!

Any info gratefully received.

Cheers,

Dudders

whats he doing when the connections lost - is he playing games online with age restrictions and he has put his dob in and its automatically kicking him out?

Hi there,

Doesn't appear to be an issue re dob etc. Connection sometimes goes in middle of a game, but more common problem is having a w/less connection one day and not being able to achieve that the next.

We did a Google last night and it seems that this is quite a common problem, with, as I had suspected, fingers being pointed as to the quality (or otherwise) of the wireless components in the PS3.

Cheers

Try these or similar-saves on ripping the place apart to put cable in.

The wireless in the PS3 does seem to be quite pants, only since a certain firmware release though according to some forums. Anyway, I solved the problems I had streaming video to my PS3 by using my squeezebox (classic) as a wireless bridge. So my squeezebox picks up the wireless signal, and a short ethernet cable (1m) runs from the squeezebox to the PS3. This solved the problems I was having with streaming video also proved to me that it was the PS3 that is the problem and not my wireless signal!

Obviously if you don't have a squeezebox that isn't going to work for you though. so I'd recommend a couple of homeplugs, I've got 2 of the 85Meg ones from solwise and they work very well. Much easier than installing huge lengths of ethernet.
